METROPOLITAN (DAVIDSON COUNTY) COURTHOUSE

Historic Restoration

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
The Metropolitan Historic Courthouse project was a challenging renovation and restoration of the 1937 Art Deco courthouse, requiring tremendous experience and creativity, an energetic workforce, and an optimistic, cooperative project team. The project included replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems throughout the 270,400-SF, 11-story structure, along with security enhancements, life safety, office and administrative spaces, and finishes. Lobby areas, courtrooms, and the central stairway were restored, with finishes carefully removed or protected until they could be properly replaced or restored. The entire exterior façade went through an extensive restoration process. Innovative methods were incorporated throughout the construction process in order to maintain a dry building as the existing roof was removed and the entire building re-roofed.
