VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

Alumni Hall - Historic Restoration

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
Hardaway’s restoration of the university’s historic Alumni Hall included a complete replacement of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. New construction included the addition of below-grade basement spaces, which provided the square footage needed to install new mechanical and electrical rooms, storage space, and circulation. Two above-grade additions were added as well, establishing the vertical space necessary for new elevators, a new stair, and catering and support space for Vanderbilt Dining Services. The building exterior received a complete restoration of masonry and windows, and all interior spaces were renovated. Notable work included restoration of existing wood wall panels, and the addition of new wood panels made to match existing. Hardaway also added a new cable hung stair, one of only a few cable supported stair structures in the country.
