St. Cecilia Motherhouse |
The
Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation launched
a three phased expansion and modernization program for
their 146 year old Motherhouse. The structure was originally
built in 1860 and placed on the National Register of
Historic Places in 1971.
The
first phase was a four-story 157,536 SF addition to
provide space for a new kitchen, dining room, infirmary,
Laundry, and library plus 160 bedrooms. The building
has an environmentally controlled archives and features
a large interior courtyard. The design included a
concrete frame structure with a brick veneer and a
shingle roof.
