Chapel Addition
St. Cecilia Motherhouse

The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation launched a three phased expansion and modernization program for their 146 year old Motherhouse. The structure was originally built in 1860 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Chapel addition was the second phase in a three phase project for the Sisters of St. Cecilia and was the first chapel construction on campus since the late 1880's. The chapel includes an approximately 9,000 SF sanctuary with high end finishes including wood trim and marble floors. The Nave, Sanctuary and Apse have porcelain and marble floors with 38' high ceilings. Arched openings separate the main Nave from the side aisles.

This project incorporated religious artwork, statues, and symbols from Spain. Hardaway coordinated the installation of a large pipe organ from Wicks Organ Company, as well as, the cherry pews and stalls from New Holland Church Furniture from Pennsylvania. Also, included were stained glass windows from Germany.

The Sisters held a dedication service on December 23, 2005.
