Printing Press Monroe News Star

As one of our repeat clients, Gannet Co., Inc., invited Hardaway Construction Corp. and Hart, Freeland, Roberts, Architects, to once again form a Design-Build team, along with selected MP&E subcontractors to add on to and renovate their News Star facility in Monroe, Louisiana. The project included a press hall of approximately 8,000 square feet of new construction, placed between two existing buildings, and separated by 4-hour fire walls. This new space incorporated special foundations for the newly refurbished press that was brought in from Honolulu, Hawaii.

The MP&E subcontractors were responsible for electrical renovations as well as a redundant electrical system and renovations to the HVAC system and proper exhaust methods. In addition, a new ink tank farm and distribution system was installed.
