Lane Agri-Park Phase II

Lane Agri-Park Phase II is a continuation of a 45-acre four Phase multi-function agriculture / community activity area and park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Lane Agri-Park Phase II project was not an ordinary pre-engineered metal building project as the design incorporated Cupolas on both the Community Center and Livestock Barn buildings.

The Master Plan enhancements included in this Phase were a Livestock Show Barn, a Community Center, a Pavilion, a Farmer’s Market, and a Horse Show Ring. In addition to the aforementioned building and structures, the Phase II development required significant site work which covered 17.5 acres. Site work included landscaping, paving of connector roadway and parking areas, general excavation and irrigation.

The Community Center is a 17,600 square foot multi-use facility that will be used in various programs designed to meet the educational, cultural, social, and recreational needs of county residents. UT-TSE Extension of Rutherford County will utilize the facility for various educational programs as well as a Farmer’s Market operation. Other county departments will be able to use the facility for business meetings, and the facility is also available to the general public for events such as weddings, wedding receptions, family reunions, anniversary gatherings and birthday parties. The Community Center incorporates a large meeting hall, small meeting hall, and center core area consisting of a conference room, restroom, concession room, caterer’s pantry office, and storage/utility rooms.

The Livestock Barn is a 26,000 square foot building which consists of three areas: 10,500 square foot enclosed, heated show barn, 11,500 square foot livestock staging and washing area, and 4,000 square foot equipment and storage area. This facility will be used for livestock activities such as shows, judging team training, and project group meetings for 4-H’ers who participate in beef, dairy, sheep, goat, poultry and other livestock projects. The show barn includes a center ring for showing and judging animals, bleachers, concession room, restrooms, office, and utility rooms. The livestock staging area consists of an open-air building with wash bay, chemical storage room, and personnel changing room. The storage area is a fenced area for the storage of equipment and supplies.

The Pavilion is a 900 square foot glulam framed open-air structure which was also constructed for multi-use activities. The site work was extensive covering an area of approximately 17.5 acres. Grading and drainage work consisted of an approximate 2-acre sediment pond, approximately 3,500 lineal feet of earth berms for screening, and storm drainage. Site utilities included relocating a natural gas main, installing an 8” diameter water main, an 8” diameter sanitary sewer main, storm drainage, landscaping, and irrigation.

Agricultural agents will use the facility for field day and demonstration activities for livestock procedures and the facility will be available for livestock shows, auctions and other activities scheduled by livestock organizations or the general public.
