FRANKE Corporate Office & Warehouse Complex |
HARDAWAY Construction Corp. recently completed the North American corporate office and distribution complex for international Food Equipment Company FRANKE Foodservice, Inc. and FRANKE Holdings AG based in Aarburg, Switzerland. These buildings create a corporate campus unequal to any in the Middle Tennessee area.
FRANKE is an industrial manufacturer with companies located around the world. While best known for its kitchen systems, FRANKE offers a wide range of products and services and is the worldwide leader in providing equipment solutions and project management for quick service restaurant chains and retailers including food service systems, coffee systems and washroom and sanitary systems.
The project consisted of a unique European aesthetic with innovative design solutions and the use of durable materials. Situated on approximately 40 acres along Highway 41 near the Smyrna airport, the site accommodates this phase plus space for future office and warehouse expansions as designed by Hastings Architecture. The office building is a two-story steel and glass curtain wall structure with Brazilian wood accents totaling 97,500 square feet. The warehouse is a one-story concrete tilt wall building consisting of approximately 125,000 square feet. Other features include a raised flooring system, tilt up concrete in some areas for cost savings and as a means to tie the two buildings together, and the use of kal-wall as punched openings and skylights to provide daylighting for the warehouse employees. The construction and design teams worked together with FRANKE to include several owner provided materials, such as stainless steel panels for wall protection in their tech center, and kitchen equipment in their employee café.
The buildings were designed for the possibility of LEED™ certification and are seeking Silver LEED™ Certification. LEED™ building elements include insulated aluminum panels throughout the skin of the office building, energy efficient glass curtain wall, and wood accent panels. The roof of each facility has energy saving TPO roof membrane systems that reflect most of the direct sunlight away from the building, and energy efficient plenum access flooring is used throughout the majority of the office facility, allowing employees to control their individual environments.
This state-of-the-art office complex also includes an Employee Care Clinic, a Fitness Center, a Cafeteria, as well as a Tech and Lab Center for testing and demonstrating the owner’s products. The warehouse is a re-supply distribution point for the Owner’s products. There are 19 loading / receiving docks. A 38’ clear working height serves the owner's warehouse requirements which are comprised of an automated warehouse shipping system and product storage.
