Father Ryan High School Jim Carell Alumni Athletic Complex |
Father Ryan High School, established in 1925, is the oldest school in Nashville to have played football during its entire history, yet never had a home game. They did not have a football field for playing at their original Elliston Place campus and have not been allowed to have a football stadium at their Norwood Drive campus until 2009. The campus is located on Norwood Drive in Oak Hill, Tennessee (South Nashville).
The Jim Carell Alumni Athletic Complex at Father Ryan High School consists of several general areas. The focus of the project was the main football field and the precast concrete stadium on the home side of the field. There are four service buildings constructed of masonry and wood truss design which function as the Athletic Director’s Office, the Spirit / Souvenir Store, the Champions Room, Family Restrooms, Large Restrooms, and Concession Stands. The stadium consists of structural precast concrete with brick veneer, and aluminum seating and a 1,000 square foot press box constructed at the top of the stadium. There are two observation decks constructed on either side of the press box for “standing room only” crowds. The stadium’s seating capacity is just under 3000, which is a function of how much parking they have on campus.
In addition to the new construction, the project includes the renovation of the football practice field, building a backstop comprised of masonry and a 30 feet tall netting for the baseball field, and reorienting the softball field and adding dug outs, backstop, and backstop netting being installed.
