Exterior Dr. McCord MRI Suite

This project consists of construction of a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) suite in an existing building. The MRI machine employs a new imaging position of the patient. Patients walk into the chamber and are not cramped and can be scanned standing, sitting, and in recumbent positions. It can also rotate the vertically-oriented patient into a horizontal position so the patient can be scanned lying down just like in the case of a traditional MRI.

The build-out includes a new exterior storefront entrance and steel framed canopy. Spaces include a waiting room / reception area, MRI space, control room, one toilet and storage.

A large opening was cut in the existing west wall to allow placement of the new 300,000 lb. magnet.
